Kelly Sheehan has produced over 60 hours of broadcast television. Currently, she guides the development, production, distribution and marketing of independent feature documentaries that are televised and screened around the world. Recent films include MARIACHI HIGH, a national PBS broadcast special called “pure fun” by Roger Ebert and “magical” by NBC Latino, the New York Magazine Critic’s Pick FOUR SEASONS LODGE (“inspirational in unexpected ways” LA Times, “gorgeously photographed” The New York Times) released theatrically by First Run Features and broadcast on PBS stations, the award-winning Sundance Film Festival favorite CROSSING ARIZONA, broadcast on Sundance Channel, (“Engrossing” Variety, “Excellent!” San Francisco Chronicle, “Sterling effort of visual journalism” Arizona Daily Star), and the “raucous and triumphant” (Huffington Post) indie music doc FOLLOW MY VOICE, produced in association with Sundance Channel and featuring John Cameron Mitchell, Yoko Ono, Rufus Wainwright and many others. Previously, Sheehan served as head of production for the Emmy Award-winning media company Globalvision where she supervised documentaries for television including the PBS film COUNTING ON DEMOCRACY which chronicled the 2000 Presidential election recounts in Florida, the 2001 World AIDS Day broadcast special NKOSI: A VOICE FOR AFRICA'S AIDS ORPHANS narrated by Danny Glover (PBS) and WE ARE FAMILY featuring an all-star cast with Spike Lee, Diana Ross, Patti Labelle, Matthew Modine, Macaulay Culkin and many others (2002 Sundance Film Festival premiere, New York theatrical release, Trio Channel broadcast). She served as supervising producer on ABC CHILDREN FIRST, a series of twelve educational specials and PSAs broadcast on ABC stations and hosted by Diane Sawyer, Elizabeth Vargas and other network personalities. She was also senior producer for 22 episodes of the CNBC primetime series USHUAIA: THE ULTIMATE ADVENTURE, and creator and series producer for 86 half-hour episodes of the entertaining human interest magazine series TILT 23 1⁄2, called “observing the absurd” by TV Guide, which was telecast in over 70 countries worldwide. Working with director Nathaniel Kahn, she also developed the Academy Award-nominated feature documentary MY ARCHITECT, released by New Yorker Films and HBO. |
