Kim Connell is the Founder
and President of RAINLAKE Productions and an award-winning
Senior Producer and Editor with over 15 years of hands-on experience creating
films, television programming, and content for the digital world. Under
her guidance, RAINLAKE has produced hundreds of non-fiction media projects
for corporate and non-profit clients as well as five critically acclaimed
feature documentaries that each premiered at major festivals including
Sundance, Tribeca, and Silverdocs
and where all met with success in the marketplace.
Recent documentary films include Four Seasons Lodge
(theatrically released by First Run Features with cinematography by Albert
Maysles), Odd Ones Out, an original hour for
Granada awarded a 2009 Telly, Follow My Voice With the Music
of Hedwig featuring John Cameron Mitchell, Yoko Ono, Rufus
Wainright along with many others (official selection Tribeca Film Festival
and Sundance Channel broadcast), and critically acclaimed Crossing
Arizona (official selection Sundance Film Festival and CINE
Master Series Award winner). She produced and edited TLC’s
Black Las Vegas (Telly Award and New York Festival Winner)
and was Senior Editor on Volkswagon's Racing Under Green
for Discovery Channel, Radical Media's documentary Two Roads
to Taupo 1000 for Speed Channel,
Religion: A Pop Culture History for VH1, ABC's
prime time reality series Fast Cars and Superstars,
We Are Family (Sundance Film Festival premiere),
the Discovery Health pilot episode of Medical Profile: Christopher
Reeve and was honored with a Silver and Bronze Telly for
the series Children First on ABC.
Over the years, she has produced and edited for Showtime/Viacom,
Reebok, Epicurious, Grolsch,
CCG Metamedia, Globalvision Inc., and
PBS among others.
She is currently directing and editing Mariachi High,
a documentary with support from Chicken and Egg, LPB and NEA while creating
non-fiction content for the digital world at sites including Proxibid,
Neighborhood Works America, and the University of Southern California
as well as commercial spots for agency clients including MERCY Hospital,
UFL and MAIDS. She cut her teeth on a Steenbeck flatbed edit machine at
American University between Division I basketball games and trips home
to Alabama to nurture her southern storytelling roots. Career highlights
include sold out premieres, winning her eighth Telly and filming her two
daughters Maeve and Beatriz growing up.
